Our First Campaign: Sharks on the EDGE

Our first campaign focuses on sharks and the lucrative industry of shark finning. Many shark species are currently under global threat of extinction and until recently this has gone on almost unnoticed. One of the main reasons that sharks are so threatened is due to shark finning. The lucrative industry surrounding this practice is driven by Asia’s growing demand for shark-fin related products and in particular, shark-fin soup.

Campaign Goals

1. To raise awareness and dispel some of the myths surrounding sharks by engaging the public through education and by giving talks on the subject matter (for more information or to book a talk please click here).
2. To identify the key obstacles that prevent the general public from engaging in shark conservation by carrying out a survey of the general public attitudes towards sharks.  Surveys will be given to everyone who attends one of our talks and the results will be published to help direct future conservation effort and contribute to scientific knowledge.
3. To establish collaborations with partner organisations to reinforce the message through links and joint ventures.
